On the afternoon of April 13, 2026, Da Lat University, in collaboration with the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association and the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union, organized a program to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year for Lao international students studying at the University.
The program aimed to strengthen the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Laos, particularly between Lam Dong Province and its twin provinces, Champasak and Bolykhamxay. It was also a special occasion for 24 Lao international students at the University to celebrate the New Year away from home in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, while enhancing cultural exchanges and understanding of Vietnamese culture and people.

Key Activities and Highlights
During the program, representatives from the University leadership and the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union presented meaningful New Year gifts to the Lao international students. These gifts carried not only material value but also profound spiritual encouragement, inspiring the students to strive in their studies and become bridges fostering the enduring friendship between the two nations.

The highlight of the program was the wrist-tying ceremony (Baci)—a long-standing cultural tradition of the “Land of a Million Elephants.” In a solemn yet cozy atmosphere, the Lao students performed the wrist-tying ritual for the delegates, teachers, and participating students as a wish for peace and good fortune, showcasing close bonds and warm affection. The program concluded in a joyful, warm, and friendly atmosphere. The care and companionship from both the University and the local authorities helped the Lao international students ease their homesickness, allowing them to feel secure in their studies and personal development at Da Lat University.
